EPL: Wayne Rooney speaks on becoming new Man Utd manager after Solskjaer’s sack

Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has said he has no plans of leaving Derby County any time soon.

Rooney has been linked with the vacant seat at Old Trafford after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired on Sunday.

Although he admitted he speaks to people at United regularly, the ex-England star has insisted that he would have gotten the job by now if the Red Devils wanted him.

“I’m committed to this football club until somebody above me tells me otherwise,” Rooney said.

“I speak to people at Manchester United on a regular basis and I’m sure, if they were going to come calling for me, that would have happened by now.”

Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino are believed to be frontrunners for the role. Dailypost

EPL: Wayne Rooney predicts position Man United will finish, sends message to Sancho

Derby County manager, Wayne Rooney, has predicted that Manchester United will challenge Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool for the Premier League title this season [2021/22 campaign] after signing Jadon Sancho this summer.

Rooney also urged Sancho that he should expect a lot of pressure at Old Trafford because he is a player that scores goals and creates chances.

The Manchester United legend believes Sancho is a ‘very good signing’ for Man United, adding that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be Premier League title contenders.

“He [Sancho] scores goals, creates goals, so I think it’s a very good signing,” Rooney told Sky Sports.

“I think there will be a lot of pressure, which there should be with Manchester United.

“Sancho coming in, they are rumoured to be in for a few more players.

“They are in a period now where the fans will be wanting success, silverware, and Ole and his coaching staff will be under pressure to deliver that.

“[Manchester] City, Chelsea the Champions League winners, Liverpool, there are some very good teams, but you can see with Manchester United they are getting gradually better.

“I think they will be in a place where they really will challenge next season [2021/22 campaign].”

Meanwhile, Man United defeated Derby County 2-1 in their first pre-season friendly tie over the weekend. Dailypost
