Thomas Tuchel Linked with a top coaching job in England

The reports coming from England are that the supporters of the men’s national team, the Three Lions are asking that Gareth Southgate should be sacked ahead of the FIFA World Cup that will be hosted in Qatar. The name of Tuchel has been on the lips of everyone who is affiliated with the men’s national team.

The German will not have an issue with settling into the national team because of the time, he has been living in England. He also is familiar with most of the players of the Three Lions, so he will not need time to understand the players.

Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea following a series of bad results in the league and the UEFA Champions League. However, the owner of the club, Todd Boehly has insisted that the reason thee German was sacked was not because of the results but for his lack of seeing the same vision as the owners.

EPL: You can’t play for any other team – Leboeuf slams England star

Former Chelsea star, Frank Leboeuf has lambasted Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, saying the England star is a ‘Championship-level’ defender.

Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the world for the past five seasons now.

The England international has won the Premier League and Champions League titles with Liverpool, making 76 goal contributions in 235 games from the right-back

However, while his creative and offensive qualities have been widely praised, many have also criticised the player for being a defensive liability.

Leboeuf, a World Cup winner with France, claims Alexander-Arnold would struggle to play for another team besides Liverpool.

“Look at Trent Alexander-Arnold. I love the guy, his offensive qualities. But defensively, he’s Championship level,” Leboeuf told Journal du Dimanche.

“Only [Jurgen] Klopp’s system works for him. When it doesn’t work as well as it has this season, all you see is his defensive shortcomings.

“I want to take him with me to work on the basics. I would say to him, ‘Turn your head and look behind you, it will be better already,'”

NFF Elections: PFAN Task Force issues warning against defying court order

The Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) Task Force has warned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not to engage in the act of defying a court order regarding its upcoming elections.

Harrison Jalla, Chairman of PFAN Taskforce, gave the warning while speaking to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

Jalla said that all those in the NFF defying court orders would face the consequences of their actions.

The NFF Electoral Committee had fixed September 30 for the Federation’s elective congress in Benin and proceeded to release a schedule of events.

But an order of a Federal High Court in Abuja on September 15 had since put the NFF Elections on hold.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, ruling on an ex-parte motion, directed the Youth and Sports Development Minister and the NFF President, or any person acting on their directive, to maintain the status quo.

This, Ekwo said, would be pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

Jalla said: “The attention of the PFAN Task Force has been drawn to publications in the media space on the threat by the NFF and its Electoral Committee to defy the September 15 court order.

“In the light of this, the PFAN Task Force has taken appropriate steps and has duly informed all relevant agencies of government that there is a threat to cause a breach of the peace by defying the court order.”

Jalla added, “This is in spite of President Muhammadu Buhari’s advice that they (NFF) go back as a body to amend the statutes, expand it and accommodate those who have been disenfranchised.

“So, we’re taking the appropriate steps to ensure that those who do this don’t go scot-free.” Dailypost

EPL: Rio Ferdinand names top Man Utd star Ten Hag will offload

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, believes manager Erik ten Hag will allow captain Harry Maguire to leave the club next summer.

Maguire has so far experienced a difficult start to the new season.

The England defender has been dropped by Ten Hag to the substitutes bench, with the Dutchman preferring the partnership of

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the centre-back position.

“If there is takers I think Erik ten Hag lets him go,” Ferdinand said on his Vibe with FIVE podcast.

“I think he will want to go, if he is not playing, I don’t think he wants to sit there – there are other people who have

chosen to sit there when they aren’t playing and that’s fine, but I don’t think Harry Maguire is one of those guys.

“He loves football and wants to play, and he will have an open and honest conversation with the manager.”
