Pep Guardiola told to apologise to Man City players after losing Champions League final

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has been told to apologize to every member of his squad after losing the Champions League final to Chelsea.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Jamie O’Hara, has said Guardiola displayed “arrogance” in his team selection for the game in Porto.

City lost 1-0 in their first European final, thanks to Kai Havertz’s 42nd minute strike.
Guardiola, who has been lauded for evolving City’s style this season, was accused of overcomplicating his selection on the big stage by pundits and supporters alike.
“I couldn’t believe what I was watching.

“It’s one of the worst performances I’ve seen from Manchester City in a long time. Bottle jobs. And an absolute disaster of a team selection from Pep Guardiola.
“I cannot believe he got it so wrong in such a big moment.

“Chelsea were brilliant, they were solid, they were organised. They were all over Man City in the first-half. They had their number.

“Guardiola got it so wrong with the team selection with no holding midfielder. If Timo Werner could shoot, it would have been 3-0 at half-time. They were all over them.
“I couldn’t believe what I was watching. It was a disgrace from Pep Guardiola,” O’Hara told TalkSPORT. Dailypost

Champions League: Why I gave up trying to imitate Pep Guardiola – Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds United manager, Marcelo Bielsa, has revealed that he has given up his efforts to imitate some of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s tricks because the Spaniard is a magical man.

Bielsa, who has never hidden his admiration for Guardiola’s coaching abilities, said this ahead of Manchester City’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie with Dortmund on Tuesday night.

Speaking with DAZN, Bielsa said, “[Pep Guardiola] is a magical man.
“The things he knows how to do are extremely difficult for me to try, and I have already given up, but I have genuine admiration for what he does.

“Interpreting the novel decisions that he incorporates into a game is already a way of falling in love with football.

“Manchester City is always indecipherable.”

Guardiola is widely considered one of the best football managers in the world.
The 50-year-old has coached Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the past few years and won several trophies during his time at both clubs. Dailypost

Champions League: Manchester City Guardiola singles out one player after 3-0 win over Shakhtar

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, reserved special praise for Ilkay Gundogan, following their 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donestk in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Gundogan set up the first goal for Riyad Mahrez with a shot that came back off the post, before scoring the second himself.

Gabriel Jesus added a third to seal victory at the Metalist Stadium in Ukraine.

“He’s an exceptional player.

“He knows how good he has to play as there are many others in that position.

“We have problems centre-back but we have good players in other positions.

“I’m satisfied with his performance today and ever since we’ve been here together. People are starting to look at what he’s done.

“Without him last season when Fernandinho was out we couldn’t have won the Premier League in the way we did.

“He can play in two or three different positions and today he made an outstanding performance,” Guardiola told reporters after the match.(Dailypost)
