The governor who recalled similar accident at Ota in 2019, also stated that the State would enforce road worthiness to ensure that articulated vehicles plying the State’s roads are worthy to avoid such future occurrences.

“We are going to enforce strict road worthiness on tankers and other articulated vehicles to ensure that they are mechanically good to use our roads”, the governor said.

He described the accident as an unfortunate event, saying that six of the injured, three each, have been admitted at the State Hospital Ijaye and Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, just as government has invited Burnt Specialists from Lagos to attend to those with severe burnt.

Prince Abiodun regretted that a bridge that was constructed to solve one problem, as ended up creating another, adding that the State government would carry out a comprehensive and well thought out plan aimed at tackling the menace.

While commiserating with the families of those who lost their loved ones, Governor Abiodun pledged that his administration would ensure that those who sustained injuries were well taken care off and those whose properties were affected were assisted to ameliorate their losses.

We will demolish houses housing kidnappers – Gov Abiodun

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has vowed to demolish houses in the state housing kidnappers  and revoke their certificates of occupancy.

The governor assured that with the inauguration of the reinvigorated Security Trust Fund, the full architecture for internal safety of lives and property had been fully put in place.

Speaking at the inauguration of the “reinvigorated” Ogun State Security Trust Fund on Saturday, Abiodun said he had fulfilled yet another promise to provide good governance to the people
Abiodun called on traditional rulers, community development associations, civil society organisations, business owners and the entire citizens to cooperate with the government and security agencies to curb crimes in the society.

He further urged unemployed persons to embrace the opportunities for jobs offered through the jobs portals recently launched in the State.

These programmes, he said, were a clear demonstration of the government’s unreserved commitment towards ensuring that the people have a good life and pursue their legitimate business in a secured environment.

Abiodun further disclosed that the amended Ogun State Security Trust Fund law was deliberately private sector-driven that would support the state government in addressing various security challenges facing the state.

He noted that the new security trust fund would be responsible for sourcing and efficiently deploying the resources towards achieving a safe and secured environment, adding that it would be uncharitable to believe that the state could single-handedly provide all the funds that would be needed to ensure the security of lives and property.
