Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Funke Akindele make Forbes Africa icons’ list




Top Nigerian celebrities have been listed on Forbes ‘100 Icons from Africa.’

Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Omotola Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele-Bello, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Mr Eazi, among other Nigerians made the list.

Also, the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala featured on the list.

According to Forbes, the list was curated from Hollywood exports and Grammy artists to award-winning ideas that can save the world.

It also stated that the list is a way of “celebrating those whose ideas, inventions, and influential role models have aided Africa’s growth over the last decade.”

Forbes on its official Twitter handle, @Forbesafrica, alongside the list wrote, “This is a way of celebrating those also with the award-winning ideas that had defined the African continent and influential role models that have spelt Africa’s growth over the last decade.”

Forbes described Burna Boy in the publication as one of the biggest and most successful African artists on this continent.

‘I don do am’– Nollywood actress Funke Akindele replies prophet who warned her against cosmetic surgery




Popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has hinted on undergoing cosmetic surgery after she responded to a follower who warned her against undergoing any form of surgery on her body.

According to the supposed prophet @Omoarukhejohn on Twitter, Lord told him that the actress would not survive cosmetic surgery if she tries it.

The tweet read: “Funke Akindele. Good morning ma. Jesus loves you. Please don’t be offended. I have a message for you.

“Do not undergo any surgery because the Lord said you will not make it. To obey is better than sacrifice 1sam. 15v22 and Jer. 7v23. God bless you as you obey.”

However, Funke of the Jenifa fame, responded swiftly saying: “I don do am already. ( I have done surgery already). (Dailypost)

Funke Akindele Makes Directorial Debut On Ebony Life Films’ “Your Excellency”


EbonyLife Films, producer of Fifty, The Wedding Party, Chief Daddy. among others, is delighted to announce that production has begun on its latest feature film, the social-media-driven political comedy, Your Excellency.

To ensure that this movie follows in the footsteps of these previous blockbusters, EbonyLife has partnered with award-winning actress and content producer Funke Akindele to direct the film and act in a leading role.

While this is Funke’s debut as a feature film director, she is an experienced producer of eight movies, including the widely acclaimed Jenifa and The Return of Jenifa. She parlayed this success into the immensely popular television series Jenifa’s Diary, which became the most-watched family series in Nigeria. 



our Excellency tells the story of Chief Olalekan Ajadi, a bumbling, billionaire businessman and failed presidential candidate, who is obsessed with Donald Trump. Just when his campaign looks set to be another disaster, Ajadi is anointed by a major party and becomes a credible contender – all through the power of social media. As the political drama unfolds, it seems possible that even the most inept candidate, with little to offer voters except viral soundbites and amusing antics, can mount a serious challenge for the presidency.

Mo Abudu, Executive Producer, is feeling good about the movie’s prospects. “EbonyLife Films is really excited to have Funke Akindele at the helm, directing her first feature. Her knack for telling a good story, her comedic instincts and an incredible work ethic make her the perfect choice for this film. Everyone will be able to relate to the characters and the way in which social media is shaping our lives and the country’s future,” she said.

Speaking from the set, Funke Akindele was upbeat. “Your Excellency has a great script, excellent cast and an experienced production team, so I’m looking forward to making the best possible film. It’s great to be working with Aunty Mo again, so soon after the success of Chief Daddy, and hopefully, we can make another hit movie.”



The cast is a star-studded ensemble of well-known Nollywood faces, including (in alphabetical order): Funke Akindele, Lala Akindoju, Shaffy Bello, Kunle Coker, Ekun Edewor, Alex Ekubo, Oreka Godis, Osas Ighodaro, Mike Iheuwa, Seyi Law, Akin Lewis, Bimbo Manuel, Deyemi Okanlawon, Ini Dima-Okojie, Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah, Emmanuel OMG, Ikechukwu Onunaku, Helen Paul and Toni Tones.

The movie was written by Yinka Ogun, with Isioma Osaje and James Amuta producing.
Your Excellency is set for release on 13th December 2019 across Nigeria.
