Aguero drops fresh comments on Lionel Messi’s future at Barcelona

New Barcelona signing, Sergio Aguero, has insisted that captain Lionel Messi will stay at the club beyond this summer transfer window.

Messi’s current contract with Barcelona is set to expire this summer.
The Barca number 10 has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou.

However, speaking on the development, Aguero, who officially signed for Barcelona on Monday, said his fellow compatriot, Messi would make a decision on his future at the Catalan club.

“I hope we can play together,” Aguero was quoted by Barcelona’s official website as saying.

“But the thing with Leo [Lionel Messi] is that he will make decisions with the club. I have been with him since I was a kid with the national team, I know him very well, and I think he will stay here.

“We will try to do the best we can for the club.” Dailypost

LaLiga: It’s a great honour – Lionel Messi reacts to equaling Xavi’s historic Barcelona record

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, has reacted to equaling the club’s legend, Xavi Hernandez’s all-time appearance record for the Blaugrana.

The Argentine captain said it’s a “great honour” for him to hit the landmark.

Messi made his 767th outing for Barcelona in Monday’s 4-1 victory over Huesca in the LaLiga at the Camp Nou to match Xavi’s record for appearances.

The 33-year-old’s brace and a strike from Antoine Griezmann and Oscar Mingueza gave Ronald Koeman’s side all three points against Huesca.

Reacting, Messi wrote on Instagram after the game, “it is a great honour to reach this number of matches played with FC Barcelona.

“Thanks to all the colleagues who accompanied me over the years and to my family and friends for always being by my side.”

Barcelona’s next game is against Real Sociedad in the LaLiga on Sunday. (Dailypost)

Sports: Barcelona choose between Rashford, Firmino to replace Suarez

Barcelona would still prefer to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, rather than Liverpool sensation Roberto Firmino, Mundo Deportivo reports.

The LaLiga champions are drawing up a list of candidates to replace Luis Suarez, as the clock ticks down on the Uruguayan’s time at the Nou Camp.

Rashford has struggled for United so far this season, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer oversees their worst start to a campaign.

That has however not put off Barca, who apparently rate him over the Firmino, a player who has been instrumental in Jurgen Klopp’s side’s stunning start to the season.

Rashford reportedly held talks with Barca in the summer, before putting pen to paper on a new megadeal with United in July.

That deal runs to 2023, with the option of an additional year should club and player decide on one. Dailypost)

Arsenal defender, Tierney tipped to join Real Madrid, Barcelona

Celtic captain, Scott Brown, has said former team-mate Kieran Tierney could end up at Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain if he performs well at Arsenal.

The Scottish left-back, 22, joined the Gunners in a deal worth £25m on transfer deadline day and.
Tierney will compete with Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Monreal, for a starting spot once he recovers fully from his hernia operation.

And Brown feels that he could earn himself another big move from the Emirates.

“You don’t know what could happen.

“He could have a fantastic couple of seasons and end up at Barcelona or PSG or wherever,” Brown told The Herald.

Barcelona: Messi expects to be out for 'a little while' in unfortunate injury blow

The Argentine superstar strained a calf muscle in training but expects to be sidelined for only a short period of time

Lionel Messi expects to be out of action for "a little while" after suffering a calf injury during Barcelona training on Monday.

The Argentina star sustained a grade one strain to his right calf muscle in his first session back with La Liga's champions after his post-Copa America holiday.

The 32-year-old will miss Barca's pre-season trip to the United States while he recovers from the problem.

Although Barca have not put a timeframe on his recovery, Messi does not seem to think the injury will keep him sidelined for long.

"I was looking forward to starting and unfortunately I had an accident in the first training session that will leave me out for a little while," he wrote on Instagram.

"I'm grateful for all your messages and displays of affection, I wanted to be with the team and with the people who follow us in the USA.

"It wasn't to be this time, but we'll see each other again soon. A hug to everyone." (Goal)
