Gombe state 668 workers suspended for shunning biometric capturing




The Gombe State Government has said about 668  workers have been suspended, including 431 in the employment of the state civil service, 134 in Akko and 103 in Gombe local government areas.

Recall that the State Executive Council recently approved Integrated Payroll Payment Gateway and Human Resource Management Information System to reduce leakages.

The Gombe State Commissioner for Finance, Muhammad Magaji, at the maiden biometric briefing on Friday, said the state saved N38m from the suspension of the workers who failed to partake in the biometrics exercise.

He said, “Work has started; result from the pilot programme which held in certain areas are out and are being implemented effective today. That is why we thought the need to carry along every civil servant and all the people of Gombe to be aware of what is going on with respect to Integrated Payroll Payment Gateway and Human Resource Management Information System.

“As of today, all state Ministries Department and Agencies employees have been enrolled with their biometric information fully captured.”

“About 431 workers of the state government did not show up for the biometric exercise and the 431 have been taken off the payroll, and a total saving of N31.1m have been recovered as savings due to the suspension of this number of people from the payroll of the government.

“With respect to Gombe LG, a total number of 103 staff did not show up for the exercise and have been suspended from the payroll, saving the state a total of N3.1m due to the suspension. Punch
