Bayelsa Queens can win NWFL, says Juliet Sunday

Bayelsa Queens’ Juliet Sunday is confident they can win the 2020/21 Nigeria Women’s Football League.

The Gloryland Girls are currently top of the women’s league, a point ahead of perennial winners Rivers Angels, after six league games and are billed to face Abia Angels in a match-day seven fixture on Wednesday (today).

Bayelsa have recorded the best league record this season winning five games with just one loss, while second-place Rivers Angels are the only team in the league yet to taste defeat, with four wins and two draws.

However, Sunday is confident that with the quality in the team, their chances of winning the NWFL are high.

“It is possible. We’ve started the really well and I’m optimistic that we can win the league this season. Rivers Angels are always one of the favourites to win, but we are motivated this season to claim the trophy,” Sunday told Punch.

Bayelsa Queens were league winners in 2018 before they were dethroned by Rivers Angels in 2019.

The league did not hold in 2020 as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19. Punch
