Abia govt gives looters 7 days to return stolen items

Abia State government has issued a seven-day ultimatum to hoodlums and others who used the EndSARS protests to loot the properties of the State Dental Hospital on Constitution Crescent Road, Aba, to return them.

The Nation had reported that hoodlums, during the EndSARS protest in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state, destroyed and carted away government and private properties.

Among the places looted were Abia State Dental Center in Aba, and Primary Health Authority office in Aba South Local Government Area.

The state government said hoodlums stole vaccines, X-ray machines, sterilisers, air conditioners, fans and other equipment as well as disposables and consumables in the medical facility.

A statement by Information Commissioner John Okiyi-Kalu said the items could easily be tracked.

“Members of the public are hereby warned not to buy or use any of the stolen items or procure such items from unauthorised persons to avoid getting into trouble with the law.

“We wish to appeal to those who looted the items to return them within seven days to the relevant offices or call the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Matters, Mr. Joe Chinwendu on 0803 764 9306 with information on the location of the items.

“Kindly note that most of the Primary Health Care and Dental equipment are trackable and will certainly be recovered in due course if not voluntarily returned,” the government said. Thenationonlineng
