In Ogun: Man allegedly steals two-year-old boy

A 44-year-old man, known as Adetoro David, has been accused of stealing a two-year-old boy in Ogun State.

Adetoro was on Friday arraigned before an Ota Magistrate’s court.

He was said to be facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing and conspiracy.

The Prosecutor, Police Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, had informed the Magistrate that Adetoro and others at large, committed the offences on September 8 at Oju-Ore, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area of Ogun State.

Adaraloye alleged that the defendant, in collaboration with his accomplices, stole a 2-year-old boy Marvelous Oluwole.

Oluwole was reportedly abducted by the suspect when the mother sent him and his eldest brother, Kehinde Oluwole, on an errand.

The prosecutor said the defendant and a woman were together when they called Kehinde and the stolen boy to come over.

On arrival, they allegedly gave Kehinde money to go and buy biscuit, as Marvelous was left with them.

Before Kehinde returned from where he went to buy biscuits, Adaraloye said the two had ‘disappeared’ with Marvelous.

It was gathered that Adetoro was apprehended when the case was reported at the Onipanu police station by the boy’s mother.

The offences contravene Sections 371(1) and 516 of the Ogun State Criminal Code, Laws of 2006.

However, the defendant had pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adeyemi, has granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case has since been adjourned till October 8. Dailypost
