In Rivers: NSCDC arrests suspected oil thieves

THE Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps said on Thursday it arrested 20 suspected oil thieves and seized a boat and other vehicles conveying stolen petroleum products within the last two months.

The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Muktar Lawal, said in Port Harcourt that the suspected oil thieves were apprehended in various parts of the state.

He said,  “On March 6, 2020, in the Ahoada West LGA of the state, five suspects with two boat engines (60HP and 40HP), rubber and PVC pipes were also apprehended. On 30th March, 2020 at Yam Zone Town Axis, a suspect with a Man Diesel truck with Registration No. JJN 311 Plateau was arrested.”

The state NSCDC commandant recalled that three suspects with a truck conveying suspected AGO product were arrested at Abuloma in Port Harcourt City LGA.

He added that another suspect with unspecified quantity of suspected AGO loaded in an inbuilt tank of a bus, with registration no XA 968 BRS Yenagoa, was arrested on March 25, 2020.
