In Osun: DSS drags fake CMD before court

Osun State command of the Department of State Services has dragged a 34-year-old man, Quadri Abiodun, before the court for falsely claiming to be a medical doctor.

The defendant, who was arraigned on Wednesday, was said to have presented self as the Chief Medical Director of Optimal Care Clinic, Osogbo.

While addressing the court, the prosecutor said the defendant committed the crime on December 31, 2017, in Osogbo, when he falsely presented himself as a medical doctor with the intent to defraud people.

When apprehended, the prosecutor said Abiodun was having in his possession a fake certificate of the annual practising license of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria with registration number PM566399.

According to him, the offences were contrary to Section 465 and punishable under Section 467, and 484 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the five counts bordering on forgery, impersonation and fraud pressed against him.
Tajudeen Adebisi, who announced appearance for the defendant, urged the court to commit his client to bail.

Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, in his ruling, granted the bail application in the sum of N1m with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to May 27 for hearing. Punch
