COVID-19: Oyo extends curfew as endowment fund hits N200m

yo State Government said on Thursday that the curfew imposed on the state following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic is still in force.

The government had imposed a 7pm to 6 am curfew instead of full lockdown of the state to limit people’s movement.

The Governor Seyi Makinde administration said it has hit the N200million mark from donors to the Endowment Fund opened to generate financial support in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking through the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, the government said it would inform the public if there would be a review of the curfew.

Adisa said barely a week after the Oyo State COVID-19 Endowment Fund was set up, donations from corporate organisations, religious groups and individuals from within and outside the State have continued to flow in.

He named a former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo and Mr. Remi Oseni as some of the individuals who have donated, while First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Adron homes, Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria Baptist Convention, Seven-Up Bottling Company, among others are corporate donors.

Other donations, according to Adisa, included those of the PDP candidate for the Ibadan North House Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat, Chief Ademola Omotoso, who donated N500,000; Seven-Up Bottling Company (N500,000) and Muraina Abdullahi (N500,000). Thenationonlineng
