Nigeria Air Force bombs Boko Haram commanders’ meeting

The Nigerian Air Force fighter jets have bombed Boko Haram locations in the Alafa Yagayaga area of Borno State, killing some terrorist commanders, who were reportedly holding a meeting.

The Boko Haram terrorist leaders had on Saturday gathered at the location, which is also on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest, but they were detected by military Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance aircraft, which confirmed a meeting and a huge presence of terrorists around the building.

The air force explained in a statement on Monday that the airstrikes were part of Operation Rattle Snake 3 of the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-East. The air force, however, did not mention the names or number of the commanders killed in the attack.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said, “The sustained onslaught against terrorist locations in the North-East by NAF under the auspices of Operation Rattle Snake 3 recorded another success with the neutralisation of some key Boko Haram terrorists’ leaders at Alafa Yagayaga on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

“This was achieved on February 8, 2020, when fighter jets dispatched by the ATF obliterated a compound in the settlement where the leaders had assembled for a meeting. Bombs from the detailed attack aircraft scored accurate hits on the target leading to the obliteration of the compound and surrounding structures as well as the neutralisation of their BHT occupants.” Punch
