In Osun: Fire razes Federal Poly Ede’s female hostel

A building on the South Campus of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, was on Wednesday razed by fire.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Sola Lawal, said in an interview with Punch on Thursday that the building was a female hostel that was still under construction.

He said no live was lost, but properties were destroyed by the inferno.

Lawal commended the men of the Osun State Fire Service and their federal counterparts for responding quickly to the distress call, adding that their action prevented the inferno from spreading.

The Administrative Officer, Osun State Fire Service, Fatai Aremu, said firemen from the Oke Fia unit received a distress call from the school late on Wednesday and firemen were immediately mobilised to the scene.

Aremu said the incident was likely as a result of bush burning in the Jere area, where the campus is located.

The service estimated the properties lost to the inferno at over N10m. Punch
