NFF: Get me Ejiara, not Eze – Rohr

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is reportedly desperate for the Nigeria Football Federation to prioritise a move for Reading’s Ovie Ejiara over a Eberechi Eze.

The Reading’s on-loan midfielder who is valued at £1m has shown versatility under Mark Bowen at the Madejski Stadium and Rohr is keen to add the Liverpool player to his squad.

Neither Ejiara nor Eze are seemingly not prepared to pledge their allegiance to Nigeria at the moment with the pair already members of the England U21 squad.

Eze has all but declined from playing for Nigeria after informing NFF President, Amaju Pinnick that he wants to focus solely on club football.

Pinnick met with Eze in London last month in a bid to lure the 21-year-old to switch allegiance to Nigeria but he requested for the chance to continue to focus on his club career which is going well so far, and that further progress will be made in due course.

Eze once trained with the Super Eagles before a planned international friendly with Burkina Faso was cancelled in March 2017.

He has been impressive for QPR in the English Championship this season scoring six goals and providing four assists in 18 games. Punch
