Varying reports claimed Ancelotti had travelled to England for talks with Everton, with some suggesting he was on Merseyside and others in London.

But Everton, on Monday night, took the surprise step of confirming that no offers had been made.
“We can confirm that thus far no contract offer has been made and no candidate has chosen to withdraw from the process.
“While our process continues, Duncan Ferguson will remain as caretaker manager and will take charge of the side for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Leicester City,” an official statement reads.
