No life lost during poll -INEC

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday said no life was lost in last Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.

INEC stated this just as it began the announcement of collated results for the election in the state.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Monday Umoh, said he was delighted that the election held without any loss of life and commended the people of the state for making history.

Umoh noted that all the people of Bayelsa came out en mass on Saturday to vote for the governor of their choice.

“I have not heard any loss of life. We have made history. Elections are treated as elections and not as war,” he said.

As at the time of filing this report, the Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor, University of Benin, Prof. Faraday Osasere, security commanders and INEC officials were already seated to begin the announcement of the results. Thenationonlineng
