Osun state rewards HIV-free women

Osun State Agency for the Control of AIDS, in collaboration with Save One Million Lives Programme, on Monday said it had started paying N1,500 to each pregnant woman that passed HIV test.

Disclosing this in a statement, the agency’s media relations unit also said the beneficiaries were those that registered at primary health centres and tested for HIV across the thirty local government areas in the state.

The statement added that the management and staff of the agency had commenced visits to local government areas in the state to get the number of pregnant women that registered and tested for HIV. It said the agency had trained officers on ‘Scale-up intervention for antenatal clinic attendance and HIV counselling and testing, using community intervention.”(Punch)
