Insecurity: Senate insists Acting IGP must appear next week

Senate President Bukola Saraki announced during plenary on Tuesday that Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammadu Adamu must appear before it next week Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

The upper chamber had earlier summoned the Acting IGP to brief it on initiatives put in place to tackle the growing insecurity in the country.

The upper chamber also urged the traditional rulers and all stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies in order to tackle the worsening security situation in the country.

Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan later moved that all items on the order paper be stood down to another legislative day and Minority Leader Abiodun Olujimi seconded the motion.

Plenary was consequently adjourned to Tuesday, May 7, 2019. News Express
